We had a large group of over 20 people and the food was really good. I think they made some off the menu items like seared ahi, poke bowl, and huge shelled sweet sour shrimp.
We had the pork with lettuce wrap, kalbi, barbecue chicken. Everything was really tasty. Service was great.
Strong yay to come on down and try Bifa. -

This restaurant gets 5 stars for the delicious food, the cool ambiance and super-friendly waiters! We ordered the bossam (pork belly lettuce wrap), kimchi pancake, seafood soondubu (soft tofu) soup, and kalbi.
They first served us a set of four banchan which included kimchi radish, kimchi cabbage, spinach, and mac salad. The radish, cabbage and spinach were crisp and refreshing. The mac salad had just the right amount of mayonnaise.
The bossam was so delicious! It came with thick cuts of pork belly, kimchi with a special sauce, cabbage leaf wraps, red miso sauce, garlic cloves, and jalapeños. The pork belly was so tender and went perfectly with the special kimchi and red miso sauce! The kimchi pancake was filled with generous amounts of kimchi in contrast to other kimchi pancakes I've had at other Korean restaurants.
The seafood soondubu soup was very flavorful and not too spicy, which I prefer. It also had generous servings of tofu. The kalbi was tender and juicy with a light touch of sweetness.
The waiters were very kind, friendly and helpful! They brought out the dishes fairly quickly and made sure that our waters were continuously refilled. They made us feel comfortable and at home.
The restaurant had a nice ambiance, was well-decorated, and had comfortable seats. The plates were of good quality and had artistic designs on them.
Would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back again with my family and friends! -

Bifa is located on Waialae ave, with a bright yellow sign so you can't miss it! There's lots of street parking, metered parking and a lot. I believe it's 75 cents an hour.
The description says Korean, asian fusion, Chinese, but I definitely think it captures more of a Korean restaurant.
Wait staff is so friendly and accommodating!
We ordered the meat jun plate and the meat jun Kalbi combo. Really good portions at a reasonable price & I loved that the sides were on your plate. -

Kaimuki is known for it's numerous eateries. From breakfast places to dessert shops, to restaurants that cover the gamut of every taste bud imaginable. At the top of Waialae, before Koko Head Avenue sits a small unassuming little restaurant called Bifa. Don't know what the name means (if anything) but I can say that it should stand for delicious, flavorful Korean food.
The restaurant has seen a change in menu and direction and the menu is condensed from what it was before. I took a photo of the menu to show what I mean. What's left on the menu are simply delicious Korean entrees and appetizers.
I tried to capture everything we had last night, but I missed getting a pic of the Yang Nyeom Chicken Wings. Everyone dug into them so quick I couldn't get a shot in of the plate. It was crispy and not spicy at all. The next appetizer was the Bo-SSam. It consists of the softest pork belly, and a different recipe kim chee that is slightly more spicy than the type served with your meal. Still very delicious when you wrap it all together in the Napa cabbage leaves. Then came the kim chee pancake and that's all she wrote. It was crunchy and oh so ono.
With all that, we still had to eat our entrees. The soft tofu soup was still bubbling when it came out. Awesome! And you know how some places have BBQ chicken and the chicken has no taste? Well not here. The chicken must have been marinated overnight because it was perfectly seasoned and super tender. And the plate came with sides of veggies and two mandoo too.
Service was on point too. The food came out quick and our water glasses were never empty. And did you look at the prices on the menu? Everything we ordered, the quality of the food and the service received was well worth what was charged.
So if you go into Kaimuki and want to see what great Korean food tastes like, stop by Bifa and give them a try. You won't regret it. -

Bifa is a casual, informal, short pants & t-shirt kind of Korean - Japanese fusion, but mainly Korean influenced restaurant. We experienced attentive service that was enhanced by the use of buzzers on each table that informs the servers when you need attention.
Tips:
Their Jjajang Myeon ($10.95) was outstanding - the best I have had - it's addicting. Love the thick, jet black, sweet, savory, black bean, beyond caramelized onion sauce that they pour over the chewy noodles - mega yum!
Sogogi Tadakki ($22.95) this was in interesting dish. Reminded me of a Korean - Japanese inspired carpaccio. Slivers of ice cold, thinly sliced RAW beef marinated in a soy based sauce and topped with a ton of sliced onions, cucumbers and green, herbaceous sesame seed leaves.
Corn Cheese ($9.95) is an odd dish, a mix of sweet can corn, mixed with mozzarella cheese that is baked on a cast iron plate so that it all melts together into a gooey, cheesy, chew. Sounds weird and it is, but in an unusually tasty way.
